What is 7 Days To Die?

Developed by The Fun Pimps, 7 Days to Die is a video game of the survival horror genre. It is functional in both single-player and multiplayer forms. It is an Early Access game available for Microsoft, Mac OS, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.

The Windows and Mac OS versions were released in 2013, while the release of the Linux version followed in 2014. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released in 2016 by Telltale Publishing.

The game focuses on the repercussions of an imaginary Third World War. The Third World War finished almost the entire world merely leaving behind a mythical country named Navezgane, Arizona. The player being a war survivor must now survive in this country on its own.

There is no specific objective of the game except the fact that the player must thrive and get food, shelter and rule out zombies( a result of nuclear war). The player is in constant need of food and water to survive while being equally vulnerable to injuries and attacks from zombies. A voxel-based physically simulated environment lets the player create new tools from already destructed stuff as the game progresses.

The game set includes wildlife where the player can either hunt for food or be hunted as food. The main hurdle to survival is the zombies which become highly powerful at night whereas they are an easy target in the daytime. The player must fight all those zombies and stay protected from them.

As the days in the game progress, survival gets tougher. On the 7th day, a large group of Zombies attack the players, survival at this point needs quite a lot of preparation. It depends on what the player has acquired throughout the game and how the player uses the weapons to kill the zombies.

There are two game modes in 7 Days to Die. A survival mode and a creative mode. The main focus in the survival mode is to thrive and survive with limited resources while in the creative mode the resources are unlimited and the player is free to create things that are needed. The player creates a customised game world for himself. 7 Days To Die also has a multiplayer format. The multiplayer format runs best on a dedicated game server. The multiplayer version can be also played as a game client where the player joins the main publisher's server or a peer-to-peer hosting. But both of these methods lack the satisfaction of using a dedicated game server for 7 Days To Die.

What is a dedicated game server?

Let us see what a dedicated server is. A dedicated game server is a server that is the source of the authoritative power of the sequence of events in the game. It is basically a central computer that is set aside just to fulfil the task of taking care of all the devices connected to the network. It establishes communication between the devices and transfers game data.

These dedicated game servers are the basis for providing game services to gamers. In short, a dedicated game server is a remote server that is exclusively devoted to an individual or an organization. These services may either be rented from a hosting service provider or may be provided by a cloud service.
