Server Configuration

What software can I install in my dedicated server?

Primarily after purchasing or renting a dedicated server, you are to figure out the type of operating system you are looking for. This will entirely be based on the demand of your company, the application you will run on your server. You may choose between Windows or Linux and its various distribution. Added to that, we provide the latest version of cPanel or Plesk, for enhanced control panel options.

What type of RAID do you offer with your server?

The job of RAID is to enhance the data redundancy along with a performance with the help of multiple hard disk drives for storing and accessing data. It uses two or more disks and copies the data in them simultaneously.

Generally, there are two types of RAID available, namely Hardware and Software RAID.

Hardware RAID involves initial cost due as the hardware is involved and is taken care of by the controllers.

Software RAID, on the other hand, does not involve any cost. However, you are required to configure it and you need to know the process.

Our company, Hosting Ultraso provides all types of RAID to its clients. A brief on different RAID facilities are mentioned below,

  1. RAID0: It increases the quality of performance by using disk tripping to read and write from different drives.
  2. RAID1: Here data gets copied simultaneously in multiple drives and thus there remain no such chances of data loss. RAID1 uses disk monitoring in order to create disk redundancy.
  3. RAID5: Mostly preferable by online businesses for web hosting, RAID5 uses data parity and data striping to ensure data redundancy and to enhance performance.
  4. RAID6: This is more or less similar to that of RAID5, however, it only differs in using an additional parity block. Thus in case if two different hard disks of the server fail to work, the operation of data will still continue.
  5. RAID10: This combines the principle of both RAID0 and RAIID1, together with mirroring and stripping produces the best performance.
